About

Whare Whakaaio is a Year 2 class in Te Tiwai Team. We are a class of 17 enthusiastic learners.

Well term 2 is passing quickly. I can’t believe that it is nearly half way through the term already. This term has been a lot of fun as Te Tiwai Team have been learning all aboutĀ  Change. We have been learning about the seasons and what change that brings to the environment around us, the evolution of dance, and how games and toys have changed over time too.

I just wanted to make a special mention to those children in Whare Whakaaio who are making such a fantastic effort in their home reading this term. It really makes a difference! Congratulations.

Today was great fun. The children enjoyed a dress up day to celebrate our Fairytales unit. We have been learning all about fairytales in our writing. Great effort guys you all looked fantastic.

It is now the end of week 3 term 3. This week the children enjoyed a Hiwi The Kiwi show. The Minstrel and his wife presented a fantastic show with plenty of singing and dancing with a strong theme on fishing for the future. He shared his fishing knowledge of the right sized fish to be fishing and some water safety too.

Our rotation is going well. We have really enjoyed the activities so far and the children in Aihe would already have brought homeĀ  their finished product from their art/technology time with Miss Donald. Well done everyone. Keep up the awesome home reading and don’t forget to practice your basic addition facts to 20.
